About the Dinah Zike Academy

academy2In three-day intensive DZA Institutes, Dinah’s team of directors will engage and immerse participants in the power and potential of 3D interactive graphic organizers. See a variety of effective strategies for ramping up rigor and relevance as well as reinforcing skills essential for reading, organizing and analyzing . Aside from teaching strategies, trainers are immersed in dynamic presentation methods , efficient classroom organization and effective teaching practices across age-grade levels and content areas.

Research grounding, implementation for a variety of learners, as well as practicality is built in. A maximum of 24 participants allows for hands-on individual and small-group work, technology use, and direct application to participants' teaching practices.

Some Institutes are cross-curricular and targeted to either elementary or secondary levels. Others are focused on specific content/subject areas such as Notebooking for differentiation, science, mathematics, social studies, or reading/language arts. About Dinah Zike

staffphoto-copyDinah Zike is an award-winning author, educator, and inventor known for designing three-dimensional hands-on manipulatives and graphic organizers known as Foldables®, that are used nationally and internationally by teachers, parents and educational publishing companies.

As a frequent keynote speaker and continuing education consultant, she conducts powerful seminars for over 50,000 teachers and parents every year nationally and internationally. She also conducts lively staff development in-service for school districts, student teacher programs, and university continuing education programs. She is a feature speaker and presenter at national conferences, such as NSTA, IRA, NCTM, NCSS, and state and regional conferences.

Dinah was awarded the Council for Elementary Science International's Science Advocate Award, an award given to only six individuals in the last 25 years. Past recipients of the award include TV's Mr. Wizard and Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Ms. Zike is currently an author and consultant for the entire range of K-12 textbooks published by Glencoe/McGraw-Hill and Macmillan-McGraw-Hill and is under contract with Ryerson (a McGraw-Hill company) in Canada. Additionally she has published a large array of popular resource books and educational materials for her own company, Dinah-Might Adventures, LP, available online as well as in bookstores.

The Mission Statement of Dinah Zike Academy

To train trainers in both classroom organizational and transactional instructional strategies via interactive graphic organizers so that they more effectively engage students in mastering learning and problem-solving skills for life.

Dinah Zike Academy programs will accomplish this mission by:

  1. Engaging trainers to strengthen and diversify their instructional skills through practical, hands on-approaches and effective classroom organization.
  2. Providing research bases for instructional strategies that involve scaffolding and student-made interactive graphic organizers
  3. Introducing trainees to variety of interactive graphic organizers (Foldables®) and the decision-making process for using which vehicle when in the instructional process.
  4. Providing mentoring and guidance in a supportive atmosphere.
  5. Supporting a wide range of teaching and learning styles that have in common the core belief that learning needs to be owned and transformed by the learner to be lasting.
  6. Ensuring trainees go home with graphic organizers made on-site plus actual lessons and samples.
